A $1.5-million grant for the Philippines for "clean and trusted" 5G (fifth-generation) communications networks has become official with the signing of a grant agreement between the United States of America, acting through the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and NOW Telecom Co. Inc.

"This deployment is expected to support the development of a secure 5G stand-alone (SA) network infrastructure in the Philippines," NOW Telecom said in a statement.
