THE Department of Agriculture reported at least P1.13 billion damage in the agriculture sector amid rains and flooding brought by the shear line, low pressure area (LPA), and northeast monsoon in at least eight regions in the country.

In its latest data, the DA said that the rains and flooding in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga affected 52,259 farmers, with total production loss of 18,663 metric tons (MT), covering 57,561 hectares of agricultural areas.
