THE country's trade deficit widened to $58.32 billion last year, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Thursday, up from 2021's $42.23 billion as imports again outpaced exports.

The gap narrowed in December to $4.60 billion from the year-earlier $5.12 billion. Exports totaled $5.67 billion, down 9.7 percent year on year, while imports fell by a narrower 1.6 percent to $10.26 billion.
