SENATE Minority Leader Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel 3rd reiterated his opposition to the Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) because the proponents of the bill are merely "riding" on a trend.

"This [MIF] is already a red flag, or a warning sign, to us that the proponents may not even be serious about this bill and may just be riding on a fad, a trend just to say the Philippines is in the 'in-crowd'," he said in an interview with The Manila Times aired on Friday. "We should not pass laws like this just to feel that we are part of a trend, or taking advantage of a fad among countries."
