VICE President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte urged her fellow Southeast Asian education ministers and officials to value education as a "shared duty" and to act together to prevent further education inequality in the region.

"As education leaders, we have a huge responsibility to bear. The decisions we make today will help determine the quality of life in our countries and the entire Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region, and the ripple effect of these decisions can reverberate for generations to come," Duterte said in her speech at the Southeast Asian Education Ministers Organization (Seameo) Council Conference in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday.
