THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Sunday said it was able to neutralize five communist and Muslim rebels during weeklong operations in Eastern Samar in the Visayas and South Cotabato, Sulu and Sultan Kudarat in Mindanao.

According to the AFP, its focused military operations led to the death of two New People's Army (NPA) rebels, two Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and an Abu Sayyaf Group bandit.
