DEFYING strong opposition from Congress, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) stood firm on its decision to set the filing of certificates of candidacy (CoCs) for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) three months before the October 30 polls.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said that while the agency respects the objection of Parañaque City Rep. Gustavo "Gus" Tambunting, "the decision of the Commission is to have an early filing of certificate of candidacy for the BSKE this July."
