WITH the El Niño phenomenon expected to start by the middle of the year, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) said it is monitoring the reservoir water level (RWL) in Angat dam, which supplies 90 percent of the water requirement in Metro Manila.

MWSS Deputy Administrator Jose Dorado said in a television interview on Thursday said in Filipino there is an "indication" that it could start by July and that a "mild El Nino" may actually happen "by end of this year or early first quarter of 2024".
