The country's external debt ratios remained at prudent levels in the fourth quarter despite higher borrowings, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said late on Friday.

As a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP), external debt (EDT) rose to 27.7 percent during at the end of 2022 from 26.8 percent three months earlier. It was also higher than the 27 percent posted in the fourth quarter of 2021.
