THE peso lost some ground but the stock market rose anew on Wednesday as banking fears eased and as investors awaited policy rate announcements from the US Federal Reserve (Fed) and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

The currency weakened by 6 centavos to close at P54.5 against dollar, while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) added 15.52 points, or 0.24 percent, to end the day at 6,546.27.
