THE Preying Birds is my English translation of National Artist Amado V. Hernandez's novel, Mga Ibong Mandaragit. It's published by Penguin Books, and is now being sold here by our distributor, Acres Philippines, and globally by Amazon.
The book is a savvy pastiche of several texts, one of which is an article supposedly written by a Filipino student in the United States, in protest against the Bell Trade Act. Now that the Americans are back, perhaps this excerpt from the book might be instructive. The excerpt is titled "Wall Street Binds the Philippines."
