FOR our sovereignty and security, we should be seriously concerned over America's overarching power and sway as seen in the silence of our leaders and media regarding grave dangers to our nation from nine Philippine military bases to be used by the United States in a possible war with China over Taiwan, feared as early as 2025 by a US Air Force general commanding global military transport.

Everyone knows all countries would target any facility used to attack them. Yet top Philippine leaders from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. down have said nothing about possible attacks on nine sites opened to the US military under the 2014 Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA).In Taiwan war scenarios, US defense think tanks like the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the Center for New American Security (CNAS) all expect China to strike bases used by its adversaries. Indeed, military analysts fearing such attacks note that adding nine EDCA facilities to existing US sites in Japan and Guam would complicate targeting by the People's Liberation Army (PLA), China's armed forces.Put another way, EDCA bases would force China to spread bombers and missiles over far more targets in a much vaster area. We join the firing line so many, many warheads are expended on us.Despite that clear and future danger, nil is said by our leaders, security experts and media about attacks, except for a Senate foreign relations committee hearing under Sen. Imelda "Imee" Marcos, the President's sister, where a CNAS Taiwan war games video showed China retaliating against Philippine sites used by US jets engaging PLA aircraft.
