SAMAL, Bataan: Senior citizens during a payout here on Tuesday received P3,000 each for their social pension for six months. Jaina Honra of the municipal social welfare development office said that senior citizens who are social pension beneficiaries are entitled to P500 each per month from funds coming from the national government. Tuesday's payment of P3,000 to the elderly ages 60 years old and above corresponds to their social pension from January 1 to June 30, 2023. Honra said there are more than 900 beneficiaries of the social pension in 14 villages in Samal. Maria de la Cruz, 76, of Barangay Sta. Lucia in Samal, was grateful for receiving P3,000 but expressed hope that what the government promised will be fulfilled. "Thank you. I now have some cash to buy medicines. I hope the promises (to have additional health and other social benefits) will be fulfilled because this would not suffice to basic needs," de la Cruz said in Filipino.
