GREENPEACE Southeast Asia over the weekend lauded the Supreme Court's issuance of a writ of kalikasan against the release of genetically modified crops, saying the move is a "win for farmers and [the] Filipino" people.

The high court on Wednesday announced its ruling compelling the Department of Agriculture, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Health, Bureau of Plant Industry, Philippine Rice Research Institute, and the University of the Philippines Los Baños to stop the release of genetically modified rice and eggplant products.
