Even the long lines tell the story of two countries

WHERE in literature was this said? The rich are different from you and me. True. Even in the things they line up for, the rich are different from you and me. In fact — let us expand this thesis a bit — even the queues in this country tell the unalloyed, unequivocal story of disparate and separate worlds, the figurative two countries.

The longest lines at the moment for those with money to burn are for the Toyota Land Cruisers 300 (LC 300). The connected — plutocrats, senators, Cabinet members, congressmen, justices of the higher courts, governors of major provinces — have the priority, and the dealerships in all the three major regions calibrate the allocation of their LC 300 supplies (which are not many) to satiate the LC 300 need of these specific cohorts whose common denominator is this: they are all rich and powerful. Every member of this cohort oftentimes orders not just one but two or three LC 300, constricting the supply lines even more.
