YESTERDAY (May 31) the controversial Senate Bill 2020 authorizing the creation of the Maharlika Investment Fund was approved and passed by the Senate in its third and final reading.

Supporters of the creation of the MIF call it "a vehicle for economic progress" while critics are wary of its possible abuses. The Senate did its best in its deliberations to carefully remove controversial provisions while at the same time placing additional safeguards.
