The currency strengthened by 16 centavos to P56.63 versus the dollar, while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) recovered 39.87 points, or 0.64 percent, to 6,222.94.
The broader All Shares followed with a 13.24-point, or 0.40-percent gain, to 3,360.23.
