Highly acclaimed printmaker and painter Fil Delacruz is the featured artist in Conrad Manila's 27th installment of 'Of Art and Wine' (OAAW) series.Titled 'Woman | Nature,' Delacruz presents 41 unique works that highlight and blend the two mediums for which he is widely known for.Delacruz's collection of artworks were done on canvas and paper. They are heavily inspired by Filipino sensibility that delves into the spiritual aspect of humanity and depicts women as the universal source of life. For the past 50 years, Delacruz has been morphing his muses as an ever-evolving entity that showcases both the beauty and mystery of a Filipina. A woman represents many things in his art. She is his philosophical other, his inspirer, like the ethnic woman he depicted in many of his award-winning etchings in the '80s.In his lithographic show entitled 'Dilim at Liwanag' at the Drawing Room, his muses represent the beauty and sepulchral Madonna, adorned by the symbols of death and temptations. She is mother earth, color-wrapped nymphs behind lush landscapes in a show entitled 'Samba' at the Crucible Gallery.Through the years, Delacruz has called the women in his artworks several names: diwata (goddess), mother earth, wood nymph, universal woman, maskara (mask) and subconscious other. His art continues to grow and explore new ways of expression.Delacruz has held over 30 solo shows in his career.'As we end the year and celebrate the onset of the Christmas holiday season, the hotel remains true to its bold and empowered commitment to providing its guests with touches of luxury through well-curated stays. This hallmark is echoed by Delacruz's passion for creating artworks marked by high standards of excellence,' Fabio Berto, Conrad Manila's general manager enthused.Gracing the opening event of 'Of Art and Wine: Woman l Nature' were SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC) president Elizabeth Sy, SMHCC executive vice president Peggy Angeles, Conrad Manila general manager Fabio Berto, and UST Atelier Alumni Association president Marissa Pe Yang.'Of Art and Wine: Woman | Nature' will be open for viewing at Conrad Manila's Gallery C until January 6, 2024.
