BAGUIO CITY: The Supreme Court has reversed the Commission on Elections (Comelec) decision to disqualify Smartmatic from participating in any public bidding for elections, saying the poll body was guilty of grave abuse of discretion.

In a decision issued here on Tuesday, the Supreme Court en banc unanimously granted the petition for certiorari filed by Smartmatic TIM Corp. and Smartmatic Philippines Inc. and reversed the Nov. 29, 2023 resolution of the Comelec en banc, which disqualified Smartmatic from participating in any public bidding for elections.
