MANILA, Philippines —Lower transport costs and prices of key food items drove inflation lower in August, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Thursday.

Consumer price growth dropped to 3.3 percent last month, significantly lower than the 4.4 percent recorded in July and 5.3 percent in the same month last year.
