DHAKA — These days, it could be said that those of us who comment on international affairs are feeling both excited and exhausted. The excitement comes from the steady stream of new policy announcements since President Donald Trump of the United States returned to the White House, providing us with plenty of material to analyze and discuss. This is a welcome change from most of the previous US presidential administrations, when we had to work really hard just to find topics worth covering.

On the other hand, what makes our work exhausting is also largely tied to the almost overwhelming excitement mentioned above. Trump is remarkably energetic, holding press conferences almost nonstop every day — sometimes even two or three in a single day, such as one before and another one after meeting with foreign dignitaries. Then, for example, after a new Cabinet member is confirmed by the Senate and sworn in Trump's presence, yet another press conference follows. Or sometimes both before and after such ceremonies.
