MANILA, Philippines — A 63-year-old passenger was stopped from boarding his flight to Manila after he was caught with a gun inside his backpack at the Laoag International Airport, authorities said.

The man, whose identity was not disclosed, was found with an unlicensed.22 caliber Beretta pistol with six live bullets and a magazine during an inspection by personnel from the Office for Transportation Security at the final checkpoint on Friday.
