IN his column in The Manila Times on Saturday, March 22, climate advocate Ludwig Federigan made an impassioned plea to make addressing climate change a critical issue in this year's midterm elections, the campaign for which begins in earnest tomorrow, March 28. As he so eloquently explained, the Philippines is one of the most climate change-vulnerable countries in the world, experiencing its effects in stronger storms, flooding, drought and heat waves. Without a strong, comprehensive response, the various economic losses from climate change impacts could reach the equivalent of 13 percent of our annual gross domestic product by 2040.
