ILOILO CITY — An association of transport cooperatives has issued a stark warning to go on strike and surrender its modernized units to banks if unconsolidated jeepneys are permitted to operate on their old routes.
Western Visayas Alliance of Transport Cooperatives and Corporations, Inc. (WVATCCI) chairman Rizalito Alido said that allowing unconsolidated jeepneys back on the roads would create unfair competition, undermining the investments made by public utility drivers and operators who complied with the government's Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP).
