THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has called on local government units (LGUs) to scale up their energy conservation initiatives, aligning with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s broader campaign to promote efficiency in the public sector.

Through Memorandum Circular 2025-515, the DILG directed provincial, city, and municipal governments to fully implement the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) — a nationwide strategy to curb electricity and fuel consumption across all branches of government.
