MANILA, Philippines — A new low pressure area (LPA) was spotted off La Union which would bring rains in many areas, including Metro Manila, the state-run weather agency said on Wednesday.
Veronica Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the weather disturbance was estimated some 170 kilometers west of Bacnotan, also in the same province, or within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
She said the LPA remained unlikely to develop into a tropical depression but was expected to dump rains in La Union, Pangasinan, Bataan, Zambales, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Batangas, and Cavite.
The two other weather systems – intertropical convergence zone and easterlies – will continue to prevail in most parts of the country where scattered and isolated rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over the next 24 hours, Pagasa said.
