CAMP SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur: About 290 indigenous peoples, locally known as Subanon tribesmen, have been integrated into the Philippine Army’s First Infantry (Tabak) Division (1st ID) based in this five-hectare mountain camp.
Major Gen. Roseller Murillo, Tabak Division chief, said the Subanons comprise almost half of the newly recruited Christian and Muslim troops who completed a recent four-month Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) of the First ID Training School headed by Lt. Col. Rufino de Leon.
