Macau: Reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas became the first Filipino boxer to receive the prestigious Jersey Joe Walcott Award on Thursday during the 36th IBF annual convention at the Wynn Palace grandball room in Cotai here.

“We are extremely proud of Jerwin, he is a throwback to older times. He fights often, and I mean he defended his title seven times. You don’t see fighters these days with that intensity in the fight as much as Jerwin does,” IBF President Daryl Peoples told The Manila Times after the awarding ceremony.
