The country’s negative current account position should not be a cause for concern as the economy continues to receive structural foreign exchange inflows, the central bank chief said.
“Running a current account deficit is not necessarily a cause for concern given the underlying trends,” Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno pointed out in a speech at the joint general membership meeting of the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines and the Management Association of the Philippines in Makati City held recently.
