USING information technology (IT), the Department of Agriculture (DA) is launching a program in the first quarter of 2019 to identify all farmers and fishers in the Philippines, determine whether they have been a recipient of government assistance, and monitor their improvements.

According to Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, the National Farmers and Fisherman’s Database (NFFD) would start storing information about farmers and fishers, and their homes would be geo-tagged.
