A day after the House of Representatives returned a controversial draft federal constitution to the constitutional amendments panel, a lawmaker revealed that Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo “readily agreed” to bring back the vice president as the first successor to the presidency.

Cebu Rep. Raul del Mar, who made the motion to recommit Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) 15 to the committee level, told reporters in a news briefing on Thursday that he had talked to Arroyo about putting back the vice president in the line of succession ahead of the Senate president during a proposed transition period.
