THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has intensified its investigation of steel manufacturers using induction furnaces amid reports of substandard products that pose serious safety hazards to the public.

In a radio interview, DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo said there was no let-up in their probe, especially since the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) has already warned against the use of induction furnaces for steelmaking.
