THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) closed down the Dumaguate-Sibulan Airport after a plane from Manila damaged its tires as it landed, forcing it to stop in the middle of the runway on Tuesday.

Philippine Airlines flight PR2541, a 157-seater Airbus 320, safely disembarked its passengers – 113 adults, two infants and six flight crew, according to CAAP, quoting Dumaguete Airport Manager Mark Diamaoden.
