PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte appointed Elpidio Vega as the new government corporate counsel, replacing lawyer Rudolf Philip Jurado who was fired for allegedly granting a gambling franchise to the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport (Apeco).

Vega, the deputy government corporate counsel, was promoted by the President to the post vacated by Jurado, according to appointment paper signed on September 27 but released by Malacañang on Monday.
