PHILIPPINE Marines rescued a captive of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Sulu, a spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Friday.

Jose Duterte, 66, who has been with the Abu Sayyaf for more than a year, was rescued by elements of the Marine Base Landing Team 3 and intelligence operatives under the Philippine Marine Ready Force at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday in Barangay Kandyok in Panamo, Lt. Col. Gerry Besana, AFP spokesman said.
