Before introducing the main character of his Cinemalaya entry "ML" (Martial Law) at the gala premiere, scriptwriter-director Benedict Mique declared that Eddie Garcia is not just the best of actor of Philippine movies but the greatest actor of all time. The audience then gave the 89-year-old actor-director a standing ovation as he went up the stage.

Honored as one of the county’s Film Icons by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors’ (SPEEd) 2nd Eddys Awards in July (the only male among six awardees that included Gloria Romero, Susan Roces, Nora Aunor, Charo Santos-Concio and Maricel Soriano), Garcia certainly cemented the claim in this movie that have him torturing a young student researching the dark period of the 1970s.
