THE Duterte administration “befriended” China to address its incursions into the West Philippine Sea (WPS) but failed to stop its “militarization,” Sen. Aquilino Pimentel 3rd said on Tuesday.
Pimentel’s reaction stems from a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, citing that 84 percent of Filipinos believe that it was not right to “do nothing” when China, in May for example, deployed missiles at the Kagitingan (Fiery Cross), Zamora (Subi) Reef, and Panganiban (Mischief) Reef—all within the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
