THE national intelligence community is conducting a security audit on whether the Mislatel Consortium, the winning telecommunications (telco) bidder, will not be a national security threat, according to President Rodrigo Duterte’s security adviser.

Secretary Hermogenes Esperon Jr., National Security Adviser and Director general of the National Security Council (NSC) told a public hearing by the Senate Committee on Public Services on Tuesday about a resolution seeking a public inquiry on the selection of a third telco player in the country “with the end in view of ensuring that our national security will not be compromised in the process.”
