NEW YORK: Pulitzer Prize-winning author Herman Wouk, known for his portrayals of Jewish-American life and blockbuster World War 2 novels, died on Friday (Saturday in Manila), his agent said. He was 103 years old.

The centenarian “passed away peacefully in his sleep,” his agent Amy Rennert told Agence France-Press, calling Wouk “a giant among writers” and saying that up until a month ago he was working on his next book.
