Mayor Joseph Estrada will again face former mayor Alfredo Lim in the mayoral race in Manila in 2019.

Estrada, 81, filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) on Wednesday with his running mate, former representative Amado Bagatsing.

They are running under the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino party.

Lim will be running under the PDP-Laban party chaired by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The two veteran politicians will fight former vice mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, who filed his CoC on October 11.

Estrada vowed to give Manileños free medical assistance, education, job opportunities and land to the landless.

Lim, a “friend and ally” of Duterte, vowed “to support the Duterte administration all the way” and to “fiercely” fight crime and corruption.

Like Estrada, Lim vowed to “bring back free college tuition and medical services.”

Lim was Manila mayor from 1992 to 1998 and again from 2007 to 2013. He served as senator from 2004 to 2007.

Lim lost to Estrada in 2013 and in 2016.

He contested Estrada’s win in 2016, but the Commission on Elections junked his complaint in 2017.
