INSTAGRAM PHOTO/CHINITAPRINCESS* * *Vice Ganda guarantees that his latest movie titled “Fantastica,” an entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, is pure fun and entertainment. One thing that makes Funtastika unique from his past movies is the presence of Richard Gutierrez and Dingdong Dantes whom he is working with for the first time.“The characters that Richard and Dingdong are playing in the film are so different from their past movies. This is a comedy film and they did try their best to come up with a good performance even though some scenes felt awkward for them,” said Vice in Filipino. “But both of them did well in their scenes.”Halfway through the film, Vice felt somehow that Richard and Dingdong’s are better than his scenes. Of course, they wanted to make sure that both actors have good exposure since they agreed to do a comedy which is not their expertise. When he saw that, Vice added more scenes to strike a balance.“Some scenes are very funny but they are also kilig scenes for the loveteams in the film,” said Vice. “This movie is definitely worth everyone’s time and money.”Vice is working with a new director, Barry Gonzales, for this film. He had no one in mind when Star Cinema asked him to suggest a director to do the film. He knows Direk Barry as he used to work with him every time he was directed by the late Wenn Deramas. He only heard good things about Direk Barry so he agreed to have him on board.“We had a good time during the shoot because we had a fun set and our director is good. Although he was kind of nervous when we started filming, Direk Barry comes in highly recommended by Star Cinema.”Since Vice Ganda had been the box-office champion at the MMFF since he started joining, many are predicting that Fantastica will most likely top this year’s MMFF again, judging from its very entertaining trailer.
