ON Tuesday, Taiwan-based Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges and considered one of the most reliable, announced that hackers had stolen 7,000 bitcoins — at the time, worth about $41 million — withdrawing the lot in a single transaction the exchange drolly described as “a large scale security breach.”
