METRO Manila registered a record-high heat index on Tuesday, the highest, so far, in June, the state weather bureau said.

The heat index of 42.6 degrees Celsius (C), resulting from a temperature of 35.6 C and a relative humidity of 51 percent was recorded at the Science Garden, Quezon City at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). This heat index is slightly lower than the 43C recorded during the past month, Pagasa Weather Specialist Joey Figuracion said.
