THE Department of National Defense (DND) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will submit its recommendation on whether to lift or extend martial law in Mindanao by December after a review of the peace and order situation in the region, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said on Friday.

Lorenzana issued the statement after Palace spokesman Salvador Panelo said the government was open to the idea of extending martial law in Mindanao where terrorism has remained a threat.
