BACOLOD CITY: The Sandiganbayan sentenced the vice mayor and five other municipal officials of Ilog, Negros Occidental to a maximum of 10 years in prison and perpetual disqualification from holding public office after they were found guilty of graft.
The graft court’s decision dated December 6 showed that Vice Mayor John Paul Alvarez, along with Manuel Sitchon, municipal engineer; Elbert Magbato, planning officer; Hegel Dumadia, budget officer; Alberto Gidalanon, municipal treasurer and Arsenia Jaunero, district supervisor were charged with violating section 3, paragraph e of the Anti- Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
