THE Office of the Ombudsman will no longer challenge acquittals by the Sandiganbayan and trial courts, except on two grounds.
Based on Office Circular 18, the Office of the Ombudsman may still file motions for reconsideration and petitions for certiorari "strictly" based on the grounds that: it, in administrative cases, or the People of the Philippines, in criminal cases, "was clearly deprived of due process;" and there was a mistrial.
