About P44 billion is needed by the Department of Agriculture (DA) over the remaining years of the Duterte administration to achieve a plan to irrigate 500,000 hectares of agricultural land.
In a statement on Sunday, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said: “The amount could fund the construction of about 6,200 units of Solar Powered Irrigation System (SPIS) with an average coverage area of 80 hectares per system to irrigate 502,000 hectares.”
