The Philippines’ palay (unhusked rice) production in the fourth quarter of 2018 may be slightly lower than expected on account of the projected decline in harvest area and yield per hectare (ha), according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

In its October–December 2018 Palay and Corn Forecast, the state-run statistics agency said palay output based on standing crops could hit 7.22 million metric tons (MT).
