THE National Privacy Commission (NPC) is expecting Hong Kong carrier Cathay Pacific to submit a report next week, after confirming receipt of the order to explain its delayed notification of a data leak that hit its information systems and affected 102,209 Filipinos in March.
The NPC said in an order released on November 10 that the Data Privacy Act may impose a criminal liability “on persons who, after having knowledge of a security breach and of the obligation to notify the Commission under Philippine law, intentionally or by omission conceals the fact of such security breach.”
