THE Philippines’ rice and corn production will probably drop in the third quarter of 2018 because of typhoons and the southwest monsoon (habagat), the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Tuesday.

In its “Rice and Corn Estimates” report, the state-run statistics agency said rice and corn output probably dipped by 2.3 percent and 0.3 percent to 3.25 million metric tons (MMT) and 2.176 MMT in July to September from 3.32 MMT and 2.182 MMT in the same period last year, respectively.
